We encourage people to support and participate in volunteer organizations dedicated to historic preservation. Each organization publishes regular newsletters and offers other helpful publications. Without the efforts of these groups, much more of our historic resources would have vanished by now. Here is a list -- join one or more and get involved!
Private Preservation Organizations
The Heritage Society of Austin is the local preservation non-profit membership organization whose mission is to ensure the preservation of our diverse community's architectural and cultural past for present and future generations. Their website has links to lots of preservation resources.

The Austin History Center Association is a nonprofit groupdedicated to the support of the Austin History Center, Austin's research repository housing one million items of historic interest. Members support collection of materials, educational events, and staffing for the center.
